Zurich Marathon of Seville<\/strong> has lived in 2019 one of its best years. In its XXXV edition Seville maintained the Gold Label by the IAAF, with which it is placed as one of the best 40 marathons in the world<\/strong> after two consecutive promotions. It also got the best score in his history by the Spanish Real Federaci\u00f3n de Atletismo, which has placed it as the second best marathon in Spain<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

With this trajectory nothing could fail last February 17 when the event took place, which brought together 13,000 participants<\/strong>. This included the timing, which was in charge of another year of Cronochip<\/strong> and timingsense<\/strong> technology.<\/p>\n

The fastest edition of its history<\/h2>\n

Abege Ayana<\/strong>, with a time of 2h06:36<\/strong>, and Guteni Shone<\/strong>, with 2h24:25, <\/strong>both beat the male and female records respectively of the race.<\/p>\n

The modifications in the route<\/strong> of the Marathon of Seville have favoured the speed of the race. The start and finish line moved to the heart of the city and the recognised flattest track in Europe also reduced the number of curves to just 33.<\/p>\n

This year was also the tenth anniversary of the Spanish Marathon Championships that took place in the Andalusian capital; and the 20th anniversary of the World Championships in Seville in which Abel Ant\u00f3n became two times world champion of marathon<\/strong>. In his honour, the bib 354, with which the athlete won the title, was withdrawn.<\/p>\n

How was Seville Marathon 2019 timed?<\/h2>\n

Cronochip<\/a> has been in charge of this task since 2012. For this purpose, three timers went to Seville three days before the race to organize the delivery of bibs at the runner’s expo.<\/p>\n

The day before the race the team was completed with 9 more timers. It takes 12 professionals<\/strong> to meet the highest demands of a marathon of this level.<\/p>\n

The race had 9 intermediate points in addition to the start and finish line, which had a shared location. A total of 5 8-ports TS2 systems<\/strong> and 17 TSOne systems<\/strong> were needed to time the entire race. For the start and finish line, two 12-meter lines were set up, in which there were always a minimum of three timers.<\/p>\n

A lot has changed since the first time Cronochip timed the event, an edition in which, as they themselves remember, timing equipment was scarce and had to be moved from one point to another escorted by the police before the marathon runners passed.<\/p>\n

Live App adds more than 21K users for Seville Marathon<\/h2>\n

For the second consecutive year the official application of the Marathon of Seville was developed with Live’s technology<\/a>.\u00a0A total of 21,361 users<\/strong> used it to follow their favourite athletes and see their positioning on the map; to watch the video live; or to watch the video replays of athletes at each point.<\/p>\n

These video replays reached about 68,000 total plays<\/strong>. Users uploaded 270 images<\/strong> to the gallery and performed more than 41,000 follows to athletes profiles<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In 2018 alone, more than 90 races<\/strong> from all over the world were followed live through some Live-powered app, among which there were nearly 100,000 users in total.<\/p>\n
