These may seem an awful lot of participants, but the truth is that <strong>more than 20,000 apply<\/strong>.\u00a0There are so many registration applications that in order to participate you have to pre-register and enter the draw for one of the 10,000 places.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-10863\" src=\"https:\/\/timingsense.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/quebrantahuesos-indurain.jpeg\" alt=\"Miguel Indurain en Quebrantahuesos 2018\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" srcset=\"https:\/\/timingsense.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/quebrantahuesos-indurain.jpeg 1600w, https:\/\/timingsense.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/quebrantahuesos-indurain-300x169.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/timingsense.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/quebrantahuesos-indurain-768x432.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/timingsense.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/quebrantahuesos-indurain-1024x576.jpeg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Quebrantahuesos has a <strong>cross-border route that winds through the Aragonese and French Pyrenees<\/strong> and includes four mountain passes (<strong>Somport, Marie Blanque, Portalet and Hoz de Jaca<\/strong>), some of them historic in the Tour de France and the Vuelta Ciclista a Espa\u00f1a.<\/p>\n<p>This competition covers a<strong> distance of 200 km with an accumulated difference in altitude of more than 3,500 metres<\/strong>.\u00a0Participants have just over 12 hours to complete this tour.<\/p>\n<p>Thirteen years ago, a shorter version of the event was inaugurated, the <strong>Treparriscos Medio Fondo<\/strong>, with a smoother route (just two mountain passes); a difference in altitude of <strong>1,350 metres<\/strong>; and a total distance of <strong>85 km<\/strong> through Spanish territory. In this parallel event, participants have almost 8 hours to finish the race.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>How were the Quebrantahuesos and the Treparriscos timed?<\/h2>\n<p>The timers of <a href=\"http:\/\/cronochip.com\">Cronochip<\/a> <strong>have been timing this race with timingsense teams for seven years now<\/strong>.\u00a0This is one of his big annual events.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-10859\" src=\"https:\/\/timingsense.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/quebrantahuesos-ovidio.jpeg\" alt=\"Centro de control de Cronochip\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" srcset=\"https:\/\/timingsense.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/quebrantahuesos-ovidio.jpeg 1600w, https:\/\/timingsense.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/quebrantahuesos-ovidio-300x169.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/timingsense.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/quebrantahuesos-ovidio-768x432.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/timingsense.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/quebrantahuesos-ovidio-1024x576.jpeg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Twelve experienced timers with <strong>18 timing systems<\/strong>\u00a0(14 TSOne and 4 TS2) were deployed for this edition. For both races they set up <strong>10 control points<\/strong>, counting the starting line and the finish line of both and one timing point that they had in common.<\/p>\n<p>At the start and finish lines, <strong>two 8-metre lines<\/strong> were set up. To time the whole race, <strong>70 meters of ground antennas were installed<\/strong>, distributed among all the control points. At one of the highest control points, the Marie Blanque, was necessary to <strong>connect the timing equipment via satellite<\/strong> due to lack of coverage.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, both participants and their companions could follow the event with <a href=\"https:\/\/timingsense.com\/en\/live-timing-app\/?internal_campaign=ENblog-link\">Live, the live race tracking app<\/a>, from their mobile devices. From the application you could follow the cyclists and track them on their map using their GPS, watch live videos of the test, video repetitions&#8230; The figures for the use of the App speak for themselves.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>6.000<\/strong> users<\/li>\n<li><strong>7.000<\/strong> cyclists followed<\/li>\n<li><strong>133.468<\/strong> live video views<\/li>\n<li><strong>18.219<\/strong> replays of the video of the cyclists&#8217; arrival at the finish line<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There was no incidence of readings among the 10,203 finishers and everything was on track in terms of timing.
